In response to increased competition in the small van segment, Ram introduced a stripped-down version of the Dodge Grand Caravan called the C/V, which stands for Cargo Van. It debuted in 2012, offering a 3.6-liter V6 engine, a six-speed automatic transmission, and front-wheel drive. Ram rated it for 1,800 pounds of payload capacity, and the C/V could carry up to 144.4 cubic feet of cargo. Compared to competitors, the Ram C/V was quick and, with 3,600 pounds of maximum towing capacity, could handle heavier trailers than other entry-level smaller commercial vans. However, it wasn’t as fuel efficient. In 2013, the C/V added “Tradesman” to its name. The Ram C/V Tradesman remained available until 2015 when the smaller and more efficient Ram ProMaster City replaced it.
