Plug-in hybrid (PHEV) vehicles have a foot in each world, offering extensive battery-only driving range paired with a gas engine to make long road trips free from range anxiety.

If you're looking to maximize the amount of time you spend cruising on electrons, here are five PHEVs with the longest battery range in 2024 at the time of publishing.

51 miles

With almost 32.0 kilowatt-hours of energy on tap, the Land Rover Range Rover P550e Autobiography can travel 51 miles before its 3.0-liter turbocharged inline-six-cylinder engine needs to kick in.

In total, the all-wheel-drive SUV provides 542 horsepower. Offered exclusively in standard wheelbase trim, the Autobiography is one of the brand's range toppers. You'll also pay about $143,000 in order to drive one home.

44 miles

The Toyota Prius Prime represents a substantial upgrade in almost every way compared to the hatchback's previous plug-in version. For around $35,000, the Prius Prime can travel up to 44 miles on a single charge, nearly doubling the performance of the previous generation.

It accomplishes this thanks to an almost 14.0-kWh battery pack paired with a 2.0-liter four-cylinder gas engine and a pair of electric motors to produce 220 horsepower in total.

The Toyota RAV4 Prime is a perennial contender when considering the most capable PHEVs, thanks to its estimated 42 miles of EV driving range.

The RAV4 Prime for just over $45,000 is no slouch in a straight line, either, with 302 horsepower produced by its 2.5-liter four-cylinder gas motor and two electric motors. It features all-wheel drive, making it appealing to those dealing with slippery winter conditions, and that extra grip also helps it launch to 60 mph in a brisk 5.5 seconds.

The last two vehicles on this list are a pair of mechanical twins that share a platform but offer different shapes and levels of utility.

The Volvo V60 Recharge Polestar Engineered delivers up to 41 miles of driving range per battery charge, which is impressive enough, but this figure comes matched with 455 combined horsepower from a 2.0-liter turbocharged four-cylinder engine and two electric motors, with 60.5 cubic-feet of total cargo space under its long wagon roof, all for around $73,000.

Take everything you just read and apply it to a similarly sized sedan rather than a wagon, and you've got the Volvo S60 Recharge T8 eAWD. This model includes the same drivetrain as the Polestar Engineered V60 and boasts the same horsepower and up to 41-mile EV driving range, but it leaves off most of the high performance hardware, chopping the price down to around $53,000.

All vehicle pricing includes MSRP plus destination charges (set at the time of publication), and will be rounded to the nearest thousand.
