Hyundai has announced a slew of enhancements for its 2025 Ioniq 5 electric SUV, including updated styling, improved range, and a new off-road-oriented model. Here's what you need to know about the 2025 Ioniq 5.

2025 Hyundai Ioniq 5 Lands With Fresh Looks, More Features

The 2025 Ioniq 5 arrives with redesigned front and rear bumpers intended to give the small SUV the appearance of a wider stance. Other exterior styling tweaks include a new rear spoiler, available flush-mounted roof rails, and restyled wheels that improve the EV's aerodynamics. A rear wiper has also been added.

The 2025 Ioniq 5's center stack has been revamped to include physical buttons for commonly used features such as the climate and heated seat controls. The SUV's steering wheel has also been redesigned for the new model year.

Other updates include a relocated wireless charging pad, enhanced adaptive cruise control, new digital key capabilities, available heated rear seats, and a next-generation infotainment system featuring a 12.3-inch center screen with wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto connectivity. The system can receive over-the-air software updates, ensuring new features can be added more easily down the line.

Hyundai has also made some changes below the surface. Reinforcements have been added throughout the Ioniq 5's body structure, which Hyundai says improves passenger safety in the event of a side collision.

2025 Ioniq 5 XRT Makes for a More Rugged Electric SUV

Hyundai is expanding the availability of its XRT trim level to the Ioniq 5 for the 2025 model year. Already offered on other Hyundai SUVs such as the Santa Fe, the XRT treatment brings a host of changes that make for a more off-road-capable SUV. In the case of the Ioniq 5 XRT, that includes standard dual-motor all-wheel drive, trim-specific 18-inch black wheels wrapped in all-terrain tires, and a specially tuned suspension that's been lifted by nearly an inch, contributing to better approach and departure angles than the standard Ioniq 5.

Other features unique to the XRT model include black exterior trim, etched digital camouflage cladding, reworked bumpers, a black headliner, and patterned H-Tex upholstery.

2025 Ioniq 5 Gets Longer Range and a Tesla Charging Port

Both rear- and all-wheel drive versions of the Ioniq 5 receive bigger battery packs for the 2025 model year, yielding increased driving range. The rear-wheel drive (RWD) Standard Range Ioniq 5 sees its range jump from 220 miles in 2024 to about 240 miles in 2025, while RWD Long Range models are now capable of traveling at least 310 miles on a single charge, up from last year's 303-mile range.

Most all-wheel-drive versions of the Ioniq 5 are now capable of up to 280 miles of range, an improvement of about 20 miles from last year. The XRT, however, with its knobby all-terrain tires, is estimated to have roughly 250 miles of range.

The Ioniq 5 is the first Hyundai to feature the Tesla North American Charging Standard port, which means owners will be able to use Tesla's Supercharger charging network without an adapter. A Combined Charging System adapter is also included, ensuring that you can still replenish your battery at non-Tesla charging stations.

U.S.-Built 2025 Hyundai Ioniq 5 to Go on Sale This Year

The 2025 Ioniq 5 will be the first EV to enter production at Hyundai's Georgia production facility. That means it may be eligible for a $3,750 federal tax credit when it goes on sale this fall. As of September 2024, Hyundai has not announced pricing for the 2025 Ioniq 5.
